Day 2 - Horrible, agonizing hunger (arrgghhh)

Ouch. I hate being hungry. I feel good about today, though. I love steamed vegetables!

Breakfast: Granola Bar 100 Cal
Lunch: Oatmeal 256 cal
Dinner: Ramen noodles with veggies 390
Snack: Milky Way Caramel 250 Cal
Today's Calories: 995
Total Calories: 1973
This mornings weight was 232. I'm not sure I believe that. I had three days of weigh ins at 235, so I guess we'll see tomorrow if today was a fluke, a scale issue, a gravitational change, or reality.

  1. OK Dave. I started a food journal today. I can't decide if I love you or hate you. I didn't realize just how much I was eating. That might explain the extra 20 lbs huh? My breakfast everyday has been over 800 calories. Ouch. Here's a good snack or meal suggestion for you. One WHOLE bag of Orville Redenbacher Smart Pop Popcorn is only 115 calories. How many calories do you think you burn picking kernels out of your teeth?

  2. lol! It's a shocker, huh? Yeah, I've done the popcorn snack thing. For a while we had like 15 different kinds of 100 cal snack foods around the house. Might have to do that again. BTW, the answer to your question is 12.

  3. Hi Dave! This is Charles. Long time no see. Laura told me about your weight loss adventure blog and I thought I would participate because your program seems very interesting. I admire your determination and motivation. I have counseled 1000's of people on how to achieve a healthy weight/body fat % while working for the State of Utah Health Department. I am currently starting a body composition modification business and have tested my program on a few clients with amazing results. I noticed a few red flags in your program and I thought I would share some of my concerns. First, there is no reason to struggle with hunger if your are using the right strategies and principles. In fact, when I helped Laura lose weight/body fat, I challenged her to eat more calories than she needed and she couldn't do it because she was always full and the best part was that she was able to eat her naughty foods while she was losing 2 pounds a week and 1% body fat every week. Secondly, and more importantly, the theory: "My body has plenty of stored calories to make up the difference. That's kind of the point. It has worked for me before. It's also around what people eat after they've had a surgical weight loss procedure" is not fundamentally sound. Your body is far more complex and intelligent than you assume. Every time you do these types of weight loss programs you are hurting your body in the long run--I just don't want you to suffer the consequences in the future. I hope you don't take offense at this. I would love to share some information with you that will help you to never struggle with your weight for the rest of your life.
